A Smartway Transport Partner since 2007, we are aggressively targeting our carrier partners to commit to this program. Today, 30 of our carriers are Smartway partners hauling 15% of our miles. Our goal: to achieve 30% of our miles by 2010. To reduce their carbon footprint, Lakeside offers customers the option of using Smartway carriers for some or all of their transportation needs. THE GREEN TEAM
The Team is made up of a representative from each department in the Lakeside organization. With the mandate to decrease our carbon footprint, the group is continually looking for ways to improve the environmental impact of the company. |

In keeping with our mandate, we provide tools for staff members to track their carbon impact. They have access to their own personal carbon calculator, custom designed by Zerofootprint. The calculator is designed to educate users, offer practical suggestions and provide helpful links to local businesses. Right down to the type of car you drive, and the food you eat, the calculator shows your impact. |

All new employees, plus those returning from leave, take part in comprehensive training about Vision Green. Training includes the history, objectives and goals of the program, the principle of a carbon footprint and the concept of Carbon Neutral. Each staff member receives regular updates through email, quarterly meetings and a bulletin board filled with changing information. |
